○上略　兜町事務所ニ抵リ、米人フレージヤ氏ノ来訪ニ接ス、日米問題又ハ布哇移民ニ付談話シ、同地ナルアサートン氏・デイン氏其他ヘノ伝言ヲ托ス、斎藤惣一氏同行シ来ル、共ニ午飧シテ午後一時過帰去ス

My. dear Mr. Atherton :
　　Your kind letter of February the 9th was duly to hand. It should have received a prompt response, but for my illness which has kept me out of my usual routine just about one month, beginning on the middle part of April. Now I am quite myself again.
　　Mr. Frazier who you so kindly introduced to me called at my office on March the 5th and on April the 5th after his return from China, but this time he called on me at my Asukayama villa where Mr. Mori came with him. He told me all about you and the situation in Hawaii. He seems to be very much interested in public work. I am delighted to think that one more name is added to the list of my American friends.
