My dear Count Shibusawa:
　　In the hope that this reaches you in good health, may I again introduce myself to you as at one time President of the Chamber of Commerce and still the Chairman of its Senior Council. And may I take the liberty of introducing to you if you will find it convenient to receive him, the bearer of this letter, Mr. Alfred C. Thompson, who is not only one of the men who have helped materially in building up the large and well established lines of Wilson Brothers covering a period of some thirty-seven years, but is in addition a very dear personal friend of the writer.
　　Mr. Thompson accompanied by his wife is on the advice of his doctors taking a trip around the world. The writer would be happy in feeling that if your health allows, it will be your pleasure to permit Mr. Thompson to call and pay you his respects as well as my own and to express to you continued admiration and appreciation of what your wonderful contribution to the friendship of Japan and the United States has been and continues to be.

拝啓、益御清適奉賀候、然ば既に御承知の事とは存候得共、小生は嘗ては商業会議所会頭たりしものに有之、現に同会議所長老会の議長を務め居るものに御座候
誠に勝手乍ら本書持参人アルフレツド・シー・トンプソン氏を御紹介申上候間、御差支御座なく候はゞ御引見の栄を賜はり度候、同氏は設立後三十七ケ年間を経過せるウヰルソン兄弟商会（糸物類）と称する確実なる大商店建設の為めに、物質的援助を与へられたる人なるのみならず小生親友の一人にも有之候
トンプソン氏は医師の奨めにより夫人同伴にて世界漫遊の途に上られ今回貴国を訪問致す事と相成候に付き、此機会に於て閣下に対し同氏並に小生の敬意を表し、併せて日米親善増進の為めに驚くべき貢献を被遊たる閣下の功績に対する小生等の讃美と感謝とを表し上げ度候
