My dear Viscount:
　　This will introduce to you Mr. Alexander Hume Ford of Honolulu, the Director of the Pan Pacific Union.
　　I feel sure that, if you have not already met him, you at least know of him and his splendid work as the Director of the Union, and what he and his organization have done and are doing to qromote good will among the peoples of the Pacific area.

　　As you know, the Institute of Pacific Relations has entered on a field of work which the Pan Pacific Union has not felt it advisable to undertake. However, many of our aims are the same, and as a consequence we are working in harmony and each organization cooperates with the other.
　　Mr. Ford is now making a trip to the Orient, and I trust you will have the pleasure of meeting him and discussing with him the aims and work of his organization, in order that we may cooperate in our efforts to bring about better understanding and good will among all the peoples of this great Pacific area.

拝啓、汎太平洋同盟理事ホノルヽ市アレキサンダー・ヒユーム・フオード氏を御紹介申上候
若し閣下には已に同氏と御会見相成らずとするも、少くとも同氏の名及び同氏が同盟の理事として華々しき活動を為し、太平洋諸国民の間の親善増進の為めに氏を始め氏の率ゆる団体の為せる事業につき、その過去及現在の状況を必ずや御聞き及びの事と存申候
御承知の如く太平洋問題研究会は、太平洋同盟に於て遂行の必要を認めざる方面の事業に着手罷在候得共、目的は大体両団体共に同一に候へば、両会は協同にて事業を遂行致し互に提携致居候
フオード氏は今回東洋へ旅行相成候へば何卒御会見被成下、同氏の団体の目的及び事業につきて御協議被下、此の広大なる太平洋諸国の国民間に諒解と親善とを増進せん事を目的とせる私共の事業に御提携被下候様御願申上候　敬具

My dear Viscount :
　　I am enclosing a clipping from today's paper which explains itself. I am marking the last paragraph so you will see that in my own way I am trying to bring about a proper and honorable adjustment of the exclusion act.
　　I must remain loyal to my country and recognize with respect the laws of each country of the Pacific, yet I feel that in time we may lead to a better understanding and desire on the part of our people to recognize our Japanese friends on the same equal as our friends throughout the world. I think you and I have the same feeling of disappointment.
　　I merely send you this clipping to let you know that I am doing my best in my way to lead to a readjustment and kindlier understanding.

拝啓、本日の新聞紙切抜を同封致候間御一覧被成下度候、最後の節に印を附し置き候間此れによりて御承知の通り、小生は排日法に関し適当にして且つ名誉ある解決を試み居る次第に御座候
小生は我国に対して忠良なると共に、太平洋諸国の法律を尊重せざるべからず候得共、終には諒解を増進し我国民をして日本を他の国々と同等に認めしむるに至る事を可得と存居候、小生は閣下と共に失望の感を抱き居る次第に御座候
小生が此切抜を御送り申上げたるは排日法の改正と、諒解増進の為めに私が努力致居る状況の一端を御知らせ申上げんとしたるが為めに御座候　敬具

　　A cable from C.N. Kurokawa states that the Lions' convention now in session at San Francisco has at the request of the Pan-Pacific Lions club of Honolulu voted to delete the word "white" from its constitution.
　　This means that the 2000 Lions' luncheon clubs on the mainland will now be permitted to accept Oriental members, and when the members of the Pan-Pacific Lions' clubs in Pacific lands visit America they will have equal standing with the "haole" members of the clubs on the mainland.
　　When the Pan-Pacific Lions' club was organized here some months ago it was with the understanding that it would be permitted to accept one member of each Pacific race in each classification for membership. The club grew in numbers, a temporary charter was granted by the Lions at the Chicago convention, and now cables Kurokawa this is made apparent and the objectionable word "white" is dropped from the constitution.
　　The Pan-Pacific Lions' club sent as delegates to the convention in San Francisco one member of each race, Kurokawa representing the Japanese, Fred Beekley for the Hawaiians, L.DoVis Norton representing the "haole" membership. C. T. Yap the Chinese, and Joseph Ordenstein. These, Kurokawa wires, were received with special distinction by the mayor of San Francisco, while the governor of California introduced Kurokawa as the spokesman for Hawaii at the Lions' conference.
　　A telegram from the Pan-Pacific Lions' club in Honolulu inviting the Lions to hold a conference here was received with applause and is to be acted on.
　　C. N. Kurokawa was sent by the Pan-Pacific Union on a lecture tour of the Pacific coast. He was received in Los Angeles by the Pan-Pacific bodies there and kept busy for a week. In San Francisco he addressed the Commonwealth club of California on international relations and headed the delegation to the Lions' convention. He will visit the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia before he returns to Hawaii.
　　The Pan-Pacific leaders here look on the deletion of the word "white" at the Lions' convention as the beginning of the tide that will perhaps lead the way to the withdrawal of the

 objectionable feature in the Oriental exclusion laws and a better understanding with Asia.

　　　　ライオン大会に於て「白人」なる語を削除せんとの動議
シー・エヌ・黒川氏よりの来電によれば、目下桑港に開会中のライオン大会に於て、在ホノルヽ汎太平洋ライオン倶楽部の要求に基き、同倶楽部規約中より「白人」なる語を削除すべき件につきて投票を試みたとの事である。
即ち之れが為めに米国大陸に於ける二千のライオン倶楽部にては、東洋人を会員として入会せしむるを得べく、又太平洋諸国のライオン倶楽部の会員が米国へ赴く時は、彼等は大陸の会員と対等の待遇を受くる事が出来る事になつたのである。
汎太平洋ライオン倶楽部は、桑港に於て開催の同大会に各人種より一名宛の代表者を送つたが、前記黒川氏は日本人の代表者である。此来電によれば此等各人種の代表者は桑港市長よりの特別の歓迎を受け、又州知事は黒川氏を同大会に於ける布哇側の代表者に命じたとの事である。在ホノルヽ汎太平洋ライオン倶楽部より電報を以て、次回の同大会はホノルヽに開催すべしとの動議を出したるに、喝采を博して賛成を得たといふ。
黒川氏は汎太洋同盟より派遣せられ、講演の為め太平洋沿岸を旅行せしが、羅府に於て頗る人気を博し、一週間多忙の日を送り、又桑港に於ては、コンモンウエルス倶楽部に於て国際関係に関する演説を試みた。氏は太平洋沿岸北東部及英領コロンビアを旅行する筈である。

拝啓、七月廿四日附貴書並に御同封の新聞紙切抜正に落手難有拝誦仕候、然ば貴台には日米親善増進並に排日法改正の為、不相変御尽瘁の由拝承感佩罷在候、更めて申上候迄も無之排日移民法の存続する限り両国の真の親善は望むを不得候間一日も速に之を改正し、昔日の円満和平の友情を恢復致度期望の至に候、老生は九十歳に近き頽齢、日暮れて途遠き感有之候も、生ある限り此問題の解決に関し努力仕度期居候間微衷御諒察被下、将来も亦御尽力被下度願上候
