　　I am taking the liberty of attaching hereto an extract from two cables received from Mr. P. H. Jennings, President of the American Trading Company, 2 Broad Street, New York, which will be self-explanatory. I have handed the same extracts to Mr. Orihara, Governor of Hyogo Prefecture, with the request that the same be forwarded to the proper authorities in Tokyo.
　　We are extremely anxious, in so far as we are equipped to be of service both to the Imperial Japanese Government and to the Japanese Red Cross, and I thought perhaps, as a very close personal friends of our late President, Mr. James R. Morse, and as one who knows something of the ramifications of our company, you might be willing to say a word in our behalf to the authorities in Tokyo.

尚ほ小生は別紙写の如き書面を添え同抜萃文を兵庫県知事折原氏に托し在東京の当局者に伝達せらるゝ様懇願致置候
吾社は貴国政府並ニ赤十字社に対して当社の設備の許す限り便宜を計り度と存候処、幸閣下には前社長故ジエームス・アール・モルス氏とは兼ねて御懇親の間柄にても有之、且つ当社の実情も御承知の儀に候へば、其筋に対して当社の好意を御伝達被下度願上候　敬具

『全世界に散在せる米国貿易会社の各店は日本赤十字社の為め無手数料にて同社所用の物品の買付乃至発送を為すべき旨を同社に対して正式に申出づべし』
