是月以降、関東大震火災ニ対シアメリカ合衆国及ビ其他ノ国ノ栄一ノ関係団体及ビ友人ヨリ、栄一ニ見舞及ビ災害救援ノ申出アリ。栄一其都度其厚意ヲ謝シ、希望ヲ回答ス。

　　After your terrible earthquake I wrote Mr. Asano at whose home we met and congratulated him on his narrow escape from death. At the same time I asked to be remembered to you and sent my congratulations that you had also escaped in that terrible calamity. We were all so stirred in our sympathies here for the awful catastrophe that had come upon you and our own church here responded to my appeal by giving over $500 the first Sunday after the earthquake.
　　I am most happy to see by our newspapers that you are quickly recovering from the devastation and that Tokyo is rapidly rising from the midst of its ruins.
　　May the Spirit of the Great God of all be with you and give you Peace and may this sermon of mine point the way to that World Peace for which you have been so long working.

震災後小生は浅野総一郎氏に書を送り、氏が九死に一生を得られたるを慶賀し、夫れと同時に、同じく御無事なりし閣下にも慶賀の意を御伝へ被下度旨依頼致置候、貴国に勃発せる可恐大災害に対し吾々一同は深く同情を表し、災後第一の日曜日には当教会に於て忽ち義捐金五百弗を募集し得たる状況に御座候
新聞紙の報道によれば、貴国の復興は極めて速なるもの有之、東京市

は已に焦土の中より再生の機運に際会せる由仄聞仕欣賀の至に存候
偉大なる神の力は日本国民を護りて彼等に平和を与へ給はん事を祈申候、閣下が多年努力せられたる世界の平和も此祈の言葉により速に実現せん事を希望仕候
